Pick of the Week

Truvo pick of the week w-obi

With the Marks & Spencer and Superquinn vouchers giveaway extended, we are getting oh so many reviews from everyone, and the pick of the week choice was a tough decision. Alas, a choice had to be made and here ya go:

Rarasa has shared her love for Ikea in a review. However, be forewarned when you go shopping there, because you might ending buying more than you intended to with all of the great deals they have! Everything is so tempting…

If you’re looking for some yum food, great atmosphere and a good pint, try out  Fiddlers Creek Restaurant Bar; it has received nothing but praise from Reindeer and other reviewers.

Mancalledshaft gives a thorough, excellent review on the Waterford Castle Hotel & Golf Resort. Even if you aren’t a romantic, you’ll be taken away once you step onto the island. Take some good company and enjoy yourselves, as if you’re in your own fairytale.

Have you seen something better on the site that deserves to be recognized? Just leave a comment and let us know!

What’s on Where August

Here’s some interesting activities I found that are going on in August. There’s a variety of things going, and I think there something for everyone this month:

6th – 15th – Kilkenny Arts Festival – This is the 37th year of the Kilkenny Arts Festival, and is probably the best one yet. Take a peek at their schedule of events. It is going to be 10 days jam packed with Irish and international music and art of all kinds.

10th – 12th – Puck Fair - As one of Ireland’s oldest and well, let’s say unique fairs, they have a little bit of everything during is held on the 10th, 11th, and 12th of August every year. Their programme is packed and is worth the trip to Killorglin in County Kerry.

13th – 16th – Roundstone Summerfest – They have a back-up for this festival so it can go on rain or shine. Plus, most of the events are free, and who can turn down free entertainment?

21st – 22nd Dublin Viking Festival -  The programme hasn’t be announced yet, but stay tuned, because it should be announced soon. Go ahead and gather your fellow kings and warriors to prepare for the invasion of Wood Quay on the 21st and 22nd of August.

Everyone did a great job of informing me about festivities that I didn’t know about last month. So, if you know of something going on in August that we don’t have listed here, don’t hesitate to let the Truvo.ie community know about it. All you have to do it post it in the comments, and I’ll update the blog so everyone can see.

Pick of the Week

It’s that time of the week again. I have made my review picks for the week, and I decided to stay with the theme of things to do. It gets a bit monotonous if you stay inside all day, every day; so, why dont you get out and try a few of these user recommended places?

The first pick is from blackcloud. He reminds us that Phoenix Park is a great place to pass time in Dublin.

If  you want to try something new for lunch, you should check out Annedor’s review of  the Ballsbridge Market. She talks about the tasty treats they have and gives you a heads up on which stalls to expect queues at.

Kgiller wrote a great review on the Japanese Gardens in Kildare. It’s easy to pass a whole day in the area and is well worth a visit, especially if you are into the beautiful and serene atmosphere.

There you have it, a few relaxing places you can visit when the weather is pleasant to get some fresh air and recover from Oxegen.

See a review on the site that you think deserves some recognition? Put a link to it in the comments section and share the review brilliance with the rest of us.

Pick of the Week

We have had some great reviews on the site this past week! With the mix of contests we have going on and the general fun-ness of sharing experiences, everyone is extra chatty (and that is definitely a good thing).

Here are a few reviews that really caught my eye this week:

An tAthair Peadar’s review of Man Friday in Kinsale. He recommends it as one of the best early bird menus he has eaten.  Other users agree too, because this nice restaurant has 5 stars across the board. It is great for celebrations or if you are in Kinsale and just want to treat yourself.

A review of Acapulco by Sheena Ribena earned some recognition as well. She gives a great description of what to expect from the restaurant, as well as what she liked.

Diarmaidkeane’s review on the No Name Bar is great. She is new to the site, but has already started out strong.

Another newcomer to the site, xxfreckles87xx wrote an encouring review on Funtasia in Bettystown. It’s a great place for kids, whether they are young or old.

See any great reviews that we missed? Post a link to it in the comments and share the excellence.

What are your thoughts on these reviews and places?
